Mark van Wingerden

Contemporary Artist

Mark obtained a BSc (hons) in Environmental Management at North London Polytechnic after which he pursued various occupations until deciding on a career in the Fire Service.

Throughout this time he enjoyed art and regularly attended galleries and exhibitions until finally making time and focussing on a distinctive style of his own.

Mark was born in London but spent most of his formative years in Sussex being by the sea whenever possible and eventually settling in Christchurch Dorset.

The love of the sea and the ever changing landscapes associated with the coast forms the backdrop to many of Marks compositions.

He has now developed a characteristic contemporary style which some have described as Marmite Art (love it or loath it) although most are the former!.

Mark works either in Gouache on board or Acrylic on canvas or board and has recently developed the use of larger canvases to fully utilise his dynamic fresh style.

Mark has exhibited in local galleries and has had success in several exhibitions including winning the Brain Mead Trophy at Christchurch Arts Guilds 60th exhibition.
