Dorset Artist

John, born 1943, had careers in engineering, information technology and finally, wedding photography for which he obtained a professional qualification (LSWPP). This last career move gave John an outlet for his creative needs in graphic design. Back in the 1970's John joined an evening class in watercolour painting and sold his first little painting of a seascape for £5! What a thrill that was.

Since his retirement in 2007, John has been able to join local art societies and to 'brush up' on his techniques. He has exhibited his work at the Pine Walk, Bournemouth summer exhibition and at the Priory House, Christchurch art exhibitions. These proved successful, and John has now sold numerous paintings of local and other scenes.

Whilst John's first love are watercolours of Dorset's landscapes or seascapes, his subjects also include Thames barges, flowers and any landscape or seascape that inspires him. For a change, he occasionally paints something completely different - bold abstract acrylics on canvas.
