Caricatures
While I admire the great satirical caricaturists of our time I prefer to compliment the subject rather than exaggerate their shortcomings. Hence my caricatures are really portraits on small bodies surrounded by the interests and idiosyncrasies associated with the subject.
This work has proved popular with many people at a loss for a way to commemorate special occasions, particular milestones in life or just for fun. This avenue has also provided me with the opportunity to meet several show business celebrities who have accepted my speculative caricatures and now have the original artwork on their walls.

Like many artists I am very aware of my surroundings at home and throughout the world. There are pictures everywhere and living in Dorset there is never a shortage of subjects as many of my colleagues will agree.
I paint in Oil. Acrylics and Watercolour and look for the realism of fine art in my approach. Rustic texture has a lot of appeal as do the challenge of skies and the unique romance of the English countryside. Another subject I like is transport in general and motoring in particular. In my youth I cut my teeth on watercolour portrayals of rally cars in action and at some point I will endeavour to include a historic section to my website gallery to show these. Occasionally I paint animal subjects and while I do not specialise in these the resulting renditions have been warmly received by the owners.
I am mainly self taught and among my favourite artists are Rowland Hilder, Frank Wooton, Norman Rockwell, Gerald Coulson, Terence Cuneo, David Shepherd & Alan Fearnley.
